Osman Mowafy is a Co-Founding Partner at ADSERO-Ragy Soliman & Partners, spearheading the Dispute Resolution Practice. Before joining ADSERO, he established and led the Litigation Practice of top-tier Egyptian law firms.

With over 30 years of experience, Osman specialises in white-collar crimes and significant commercial disputes that have stirred up public opinion over the last decade. He is renowned for handling investment and commercial agents’ disputes, particularly representing major automobile manufacturers in their disputes with their commercial agents in Egypt and representing investors before investment dispute settlement committees, the financial regulatory authority appeal committee, and administrative disputes related to capital markets law.

His diversified practice encompasses handling commercial cases and cases related to investment companies, joint stock companies, limited liability companies, civil and state council cases, and criminal cases, mainly money laundering and embezzlement. His scope of practice also encompasses handling annulment and enforcement of domestic and international arbitral awards.

Osman’s commitment and resolution are evident in his track record of success. Still, his resolution to handle all procedures, starting from internal investigating procedures and public prosecution procedures to attending all court hearings, is most notable.

His versatile career spans arbitration and corporate and commercial as he handled many arbitration proceedings conducted under the rules of Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration (“CRCICA”) and telecommunication and employment disputes of colossal multitudes. He represented major multinational corporations, to name a few: Mitsubishi Motors Co., ŠKODA AUTO, Nissan Motor Co. Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Amadeus IT Group, Nexans S.A., Bristol Myers Squibb, SEGAS LNG.

  • Advised Presented the Parliament to explain the matter of the Egyptian Parliament lobbying the government to withdraw from a 336000 sqm. commercial land bought by our client from the governate for reasons are entirely out of our client’s hands, to the members of the parliament, the press, and the governor of Red Sea governorate.
  • Defended Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) against the Tax authority claim of USD 445.6 million.
  • Represented Siemens in a dispute regarding the Siemens sub-contractor claim from the main contractor claim. The transaction value is USD 1.2 million.
  • Represented of Sun City Mall in CRCICA arbitration against a major cinemas' operator.
  • Represented of Egyptian Resorts Company (the owner of SahlHasheeshResort) before Egyptian courts and prosecution in successfully defending the claims of the nullification of the sale agreement of SahlHasheeshland and other disputes with Egyptian Tourism Development Authority, hotels sub-developers, contractors, and units’ purchasers.
  • Represented a leading German company in successful technically complex arbitration before Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) regarding the construction and operation of water supply plant in Egypt.
  • Represented a leading real estate company in an ongoing arbitration before Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) regarding the construction and development of an administrative and medical district in East Cairo.
  • Advised a prominent real estate developer on the best practices concerning management of disputes with real estate property purchasers and enforcement of rights in case of default in payment.
  • Represented one of the major real estate developers in Egypt in disputes raised before the Consumer Protection Authority.
  • Represented a prominent real estate developer in arbitration against a construction company in relation to a co-development project that was not implemented.
  • RepresentedAmounPharmaceutical Co. before Criminal and Civil Courts in a compensation claim interconnected between both.
  • Acted as Legal Counsel to MOF on the First Sovereign Sukuk Program.
