Egypt Law No. 10/2003 on Telecommunications Regulatory Law is the main law regulating all matters relating to telecommunications. Egypt Law No. 10/2003 was published in the Official Gazette on 4 February 2003, coming into effect on the following day (i.e., 5 February 2003).
Egypt Law No. 10/2003 and all the related regulations have a significant impact on the telecommunication, media and technology sectors in Egypt and have aided in noticeable and tangible growth in these sectors over the last few years. The development that resulted from the enactment of Egypt Law No. 10/2003 has succeeded in attracting a number of key players into the local market, mainly mobile operators. This movement entailed the issuance of other related legislations in the last couple of years to support the sector, adapt to market needs and complement Egypt Law No. 10/2003. The main new regulations issued in Egypt Law No. 10/2003's wake include Egypt law No. 175/2018 Anti-Cyber and Information Technology Crimes, Egypt Law No. 180/2018 on Regulating the Press, Media, and the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, and the recently issued Egypt Law No. 151/2020 Promulgating the Law on the Protection of Personal Data.
